My bento journey began in middle school as a competitive athlete in Japan. I learned to make healthy, nutritious meals that kept me in shape and sparked my passion for cooking. I knew from this young age that I wanted to be a chef, and kept at it even after sports had ended!
A few things popped up along the way: school, moving to America, and becoming a senior tax accountant for a Big Four accounting firm. I know firsthand the joy that thoughtful bento makes in my everyday life and for my family and friends. It is my honor and pleasure to provide this moment of comfort, expression of care, and the feeling of nagomi!
What is Bento?
Bento is a home-cooked lunch that has been key to the food and cultural life of Japan for centuries. Traditional bento features portions of protein, vegetables, and rice or noodles packed neatly in a box and carried off to work or school.
More than just a delicious lunch, Nagomi Bento nourishes body, mind, and spirit. We balance mains like savory grilled salmon and mackerel, crunchy battered pork and tofu, and spicy chili shrimp with crisp vegetables and umami flavors for a refreshing experience that delights all the senses. Perfect for a busy day or anytime you need a boost, Nagomi Bento is a wholesome treat you’ll enjoy long after the last grain of rice.
Chef Nagisa personally prepares all meals using simple ingredients and sustainable methods and offers a rotating seasonal menu to fuel your week.
