My bento journey began in middle school as a competitive athlete in Japan. I learned to make healthy, nutritious meals that kept me in shape and sparked my passion for cooking. I knew from this young age that I wanted to be a chef, and kept at it even after sports had ended!
A few things popped up along the way: school, moving to America, and becoming a senior tax accountant for a Big Four accounting firm. I know firsthand the joy that thoughtful bento makes in my everyday life and for my family and friends. It is my honor and pleasure to provide this moment of comfort, expression of care, and the feeling of nagomi!
What is Bento?
Bento is a home-cooked lunch that has been key to the food and cultural life of Japan for centuries. Traditional bento features portions of protein, vegetables, and rice or noodles packed neatly in a box and carried off to work or school.
